If you’re looking for a cinema that combines comfort, character, and a dash of Oslo history, you’ve come to the right place. Ringen kino has been around for quite a while –since 1939, actually – when it first opened a few blocks to the east at Carl Berners Plass with 530 seats and an ambitious vision. It was part of Oslo Kinematografers’ major interwar investment in grand cinema buildings, before its first chapter closed in 1988.
But great stories always get a sequel! On November 21st in 2008, Ringen kino reopened – this time at Grünerløkka, where we proudly operate today under Nordisk Film Kino. And ever since, our mission has been simple: to give every guest a truly magical cinema experience.
Café & bar
Start your visit the right way in our relaxed café and bar area. We serve hot and cold drinks, as well as alcoholic beverages for those who enjoy a glass before the lights go down. Whether you’re here for a blockbuster or a quiet arthouse gem, we’ve got something to warm you up.
Snacks? Oh, we’ve got snacks.
No cinema trip is complete without treats. Our large candy store offers popcorn, snacks, candy, soft drinks, chocolates, and all the little cravings you didn’t know you had until you walked in. If it belongs in a cinema seat, we probably sell it.

Every week from monday to friday at 12:00, we also host Baby Cinema and Senior Cinema. Both experiences are available for just NOK 120! At our Baby Cinema screenings, we warmly welcome mums and dads who wish to bring their infants into the auditorium. These screenings are designed for the parents to enjoy the film, with gentle lighting and softer sound. Senior Cinema offers a comfortable screening with reduced volume.
Our auditoriums
Auditorium 1: SUPREME (221 seats)
Our flagship auditorium. Expect Dolby Atmos, fully adjustable luxury seating, and the kind of sound that reminds you why the cinema will always beat your TV.
Auditorium 2: 4DX (140 seats)
For the adventurous. Moving seats with back shaker, bottom shaker, back tickler and leg tickler, plus wind, scent, smoke and water effects. It’s not just watching a film… it’s physically feeling it!
Auditorium 3: Comfort + alcohol license (51 seats)
Ultra-comfortable, with adjustable seats and a small table for your drinks. You’re allowed to bring alcohol purchased from our café/bar into the auditorium.
Auditorium 4/5/6: Comfort (41/51 seats)
Same ultra-comfortable seating and personal tables – because comfort should be consistent. Auditorium 3-6 are smaller and more intimate, perfect for relaxed screenings and deeper stories.
