Løkka-lykke announces 2022 festival dates

Løkka-lykke street art festival returns to Oslo this June to confirm its status as Oslo’s first annual street art festival.

Held in the central district of Grünerløkka, Løkka-lykke announced itself on the Norwegian street art scene in 2021 with eleven artists producing site-specific works from large-scale murals to small-scale interventions.
This year, the festival returns from 20-26 June with the first confirmed artists Awat Serdashti, Charlotte Nordlund and Eva Hansen Sjøvold.

Visitors to Grünerløkka can book tours all year round and explore the colourful history of street art and graffiti in Oslo. Visit Street Art Oslo for dates and booking.

Highlights from 2021

In a nod to the city’s rich graffiti heritage the 2021 festival included local legends Mucho, Heia and Knut. The latter two collaborating on a wall incorporating an iconic 1997 Heia throw-up into a new mural depicting Grünerløkka’s working class history.
Other artists to participate in the festival’s first year included 21-year-old Lea Alstad, who painted her first ever wall, alongside more established names such as Bergen-based street artists AFK, Øystein Dypedal and graphic designer Uglylogo. In addition, first-time painters to some of the city’s most respected graffiti practitioners were invited to experiment on temporary cellograffiti walls in centrally-located Sofienberg park. Now planning is well underway to bring these elements (and more) to Oslo for a second time this summer.
James Finucane, Street Art Oslo: – Løkka-lykke set out to highlight the wealth of artistic talent in Oslo by inviting both emerging and established local artists to participate. This helps to ensure that the festival is grounded in the local artistic environment, something we always felt should be the defining characteristic of Løkka-lykke.
– An unexpected bonus of this “hyper-local” approach was that we were able to draw upon the knowledge and networks of local artists. This instilled the event with a strong sense of collaboration and co-creation, something we hope can be a hallmark of the festival going forward. We are very excited about the plans for this year’s festival and look forward to sharing more news soon.

About the festival

Løkka-lykke is an initiative from Løkka Gårdeierforening and Street Art Oslo, which springs from an idea to celebrate Grünerløkka’s unique identity. The festival takes place annually in Oslo during the first week of the school summer holidays – so that young people from Grünerløkka district have the opportunity to participate in co-producing the event. Løkka-lykke´s primary goal in 2021 was to provide a safe and meaningful way for the public to engage with art during the pandemic.

Løkka-lykke 2022 takes place from 20-26 June. Facebook event is here. For more information and forthcoming artist announcements visit / @lokka_lykke / @street_art_oslo
