RIKSSCENEN – The Norwegian Hub for Traditional Music and Dance have given Norway an impressive new national venue for presenting all kinds of folk music and folk dance, including Norwegian, Sami and different music and dance from around the world.
The venue is tailored to intimate acoustic concerts, fully produced stage shows, and modern dance productions, as well as social events on dance floors that are suited traditional dances. The main arena has a capacity of 300 in an amphitheatre, or a large dance floor of around 350 square metres. The cellar holds a small club accommodating 80-100 people, as well as a room used for rehearsals and seminars. All of the rooms are connected to a central recording studio.
In Schous Kulturbryggeri in the Grünerløkka area of Oslo, the Norwegian Hub for Traditional Music and Dance is placed in close proximity to the Centre for Popular Music. The new complex also includes the Øvingshotellet – a rehearsal centre including 50 rehearsal- and preproduction rooms, and a new venue for the Oslo School of Fine Arts. RIKSSCENEN is a part of the new, eclectic music community and the creative crossroads of Schous Kulturbryggeri.
